The Hidden Secrets of Creating Your Own Online System: Part One
Let's cut right to the chase. You want to learn how to generate your own targeted leads, and that's exactly what this online course is all about. It doesn't matter what type of contractor you are, whether its lawn maintenance, remodeling or HVAC, YOU need leads. Without leads your business is doomed to failure. Generating your own leads will put YOU back in control of your business.
Back to Basics
To understand the concept of lead generation, and
implement these techniques effectively, you need to understand a few basic
points and that's what Lesson #1 is all about. Though this is a basic lesson,
the unfortunate fact is that very few contractors have ever been taught how to
find who their market is and what they are selling, and if you don't understand
your market how can you ever promote your product or service effectively.
To determine your exact market you need to think in terms of Key Words. Key
Words are simply a series of words, or a short phrase that homeowners might type
into an internet search engine to find a particular search result. For example,
if your selling windows, a Key Word that someone might use to find your product
might be "windows contractor" or "vinyl windows".
Ok, your probably saying, "That's obvious, I already knew that.".
That's good, but did you know that a search for "windows" will produce different
results than a search for "Cheap Windows", or "Replacement Windows"? If you
narrow your search to be more specific, your results will be much more targeted.
This is good advice for any homeowner who is searching for a specific item. It's
also a great way for a contractor to put their advertising budget where it's
most effective. If a business specializes in "Vinyl Replacement Windows", then
it would be a waste of time and money to advertise to the entire Window market.
You only want homeowners looking for the "Vinyl Replacement Windows". This is
the concept of target market leads.
Important Keywords
Let's first look at a couple ways to find targeted
sets of keywords, and determine a hot market for your business. The first tool I
want to share is a keyword research tool called
Good Keywords. This is a free
download that you install on your computer. Good Keywords includes several
helpful tools including a Keyword Suggestion Tool, and a Misspelled Words Tool.
In this Lesson we'll look at the Good Keywords - Keyword Suggestion Tool. In
Good Keywords, enter a keyword phrase that you would like to research. For
example, let's say you are selling windows. Enter the keyword "windows", and
click GO! You'll see a list of keywords that are related to the term "windows".
You'll also see how many times each phrase was searched in the previous month.
For example, here's what I found.
The keyword "windows" received 332,887 searches last month. That's great, but I
guarantee that not all of those searches were from homeowners looking to buy
windows from a contractor. This is not a good keyword to target. Instead, let's
see if we can find a good targeted market that is related to "Windows".
Scroll down through the list and take a look at what people are actually
searching for. This will give you ideas for good niche markets such as
"replacement windows" which received 55,038 searches last month. This is more
targeted, but I think we can do better. After scrolling down further I found
"window installer" which had 10144 searches last month.
I hope that you can see what I'm doing. I'm drilling down on a keyword to find
very targeted keywords in the window market. The key to remember is that you'll
be much more successful if you give homeowners exactly what they want. If
someone is searching for windows, they're probably not going to type "windows"
in the search box. They will most likely type in what type of windows they are
looking for, brand name, etc. So if you think that all you have to do is come up
with just a few keywords, you're wrong!
Build Your List.
I'll just say that you're holding a vital piece of the lead generation puzzle in your hand. There are several other pieces that need to be put in place, but discovering your various keywords is the first step on your journey to self lead generation. Instead of just coming up with a handful, you should be able to come up with thousands, upon thousands, regardless of what type of contractor you are.
Over the next few days we'll show you how to turn
these thousands of keywords into affordable leads and how to achieve incredible
conversion rates from your website, and how to leverage your time and build an
extremely successful home improvement business, through online lead generation..
